NOTICE OF INTENDED MARRIAGE

Marriage Form |
FEES
Complete and sign the Notice
where required and airmail to The Bridal Suite for filing. Return the Notice
with a US dollar bank cashiers check/draft, international money order
payable to the Accountant General, Bermuda in the amount of US$267 ($243
filing of Notice, $24 Marriage Certificate). PERSONAL CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
The cost of additional certificates are $39 each or $24 if the registration
number is provided after the wedding. You can also pay for the filing fees
by credit card (Visa, MC, AMX) and we will pay the Registry office by Bermuda
dollar check. A 5% surcharge is added if using a credit card.
DIVORCED PERSONS If you
are divorced, enclose a photocopy of your final divorce decree with your
Notice and filing fees.
PUBLISHING OF NOTICE/WAITING PERIOD
Once The Bridal Suite files your Notice
and filing fees with the Registry Office, The Registry publishes the Notice
in two newspapers. Provided there is no objection, your license will be issued
on the 15th working day after the filing. The Bridal Suite then delivers your
license to your minister. Your license is valid for three (3) months from
the date of issue.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS
None required.
BLOOD TESTS
None required.
MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
The required document you sign after your
ceremony is returned to the Registry Office where your official Marriage Certificate
with a raised seal is prepared (time frame for receipt - approximately 4-6
weeks after wedding). The Bridal Suite will airmail your Marriage Certificate
to you upon completion. YOUR MARRIAGE IS LEGAL WORLDWIDE. You are marrying
within the jurisdiction under the laws of Bermuda.
WITNESSES
Two witnesses 18 years of age or over
are required to sign your license. The Bridal Suite will provide, if necessary.
LEGAL AGE FOR MARRYING
If you are under 18 years of age, written
notarized consent to marry must be obtained by both parents or the surviving
parent or legal guardian. See signature area at the bottom of the Notice of
Intended Marriage form.
IDENTIFICATION/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Passports are required with a return ticket. Check with
your travel agent to be sure you have the correct identification.
RELIGIOUS/CIVIL CEREMONIES
- Civil ceremonies performed only by the Registrar or Assistant
Registrar in the Registry room (Registrar General's office, 30 Parliament
Street, Hamilton HM 12 Bermuda 441 297-7739)
- There are no Justices of the Peace in Bermuda
- Christian/Jewish/ceremonies performed either in church
or outdoors. (Our ministers are adept at providing lovely ceremonies to
suit the religious or non-religious backgrounds of each person.)
- Catholic ceremonies - Stringent rules must be adhered
to when wishing to marry in the Catholic Church. Divorced persons cannot
marry in the Catholic Church. Please view their website for further information
at www.dobcc.bm. The cost in US dollars for a Catholic Church ceremony
is: Church $750, stipend for the priest $150 plus $500 + for the Diocese.
Catholic priests do not perform outdoor ceremonies, only marriages within
the Catholic Church.
- Jewish ceremony - There is no resident rabbi in Bermuda.
If wishing to bring your own rabbi, priest or minister to Bermuda
to perform your ceremony, approval must be obtained from two sources: the
Department of Immigration (441) 297-7940 and from the Registry General's office
(441) 297-7739 where your clergy must complete a Marriage Officer License
application form.

decrees, if applicable, for filing to:
